We have had a wonderful half term in Year 4! In History, we have been exploring the lives of Tudor, Victorian and Modern-Day children, noting similarities and differences – and even getting into character by performing our own play based on Lord Shaftesbury’s work to bring about positive changes for children.

Tying in with this, we wrote thoughtful free-verse poems from the perspective of a young Victorian chimney sweep, creating some very moving imagery. We have also enjoyed reading and discussing the text, ‘Leon and the Place Between,’ and have even written our own fantasy stories!

In Maths, we have developed our rounding skills, considering how to round to the nearest 10, 100 and 1,000. Meanwhile, iScience, we have continued our work on digestion, with a focus on healthy teeth and the ways in which herbivores, omnivores and carnivores have adapted to effectively digest the food they consume.

RE has seen us explore Jesus’ family tree, and the role His descendants have played throughout history. Most recently, we have Saint Joseph, as we reflected on his selflessness and compassion and discussed the ways we can follow his example.

In our Art lessons, we have perfected our understanding and use of tone, texture and proportion. We recently reviewed the work of the artist, Beatriz Milhazes, who explored the effects of using different focal points in her work. We have produced some vibrant and inspiring collages, which we are delighted with!
